How Juvelook and Profhilo work, collagen stimulation vs hydration
- Juvelook Porous PDLLA microspheres trigger a controlled inflammatory response in which fibroblasts, the collagen-producing cells of the dermis, deposit new collagen around each particle as it is gradually absorbed over months. The small amount of HA provides immediate hydration. The result builds over 2 to 3 months and adds slight volume as well as thickness. Juvelook Volume (Lenisna) is a stronger formulation intended for deeper volume and is not the version usually used under the eyes.
- Profhilo Long and short HA chains are heated together to form stable complexes without a chemical cross-linker, which leaves the gel fluid enough to spread from each injection point rather than remaining as a discrete deposit. Profhilo hydrates the skin and, in laboratory studies, stimulates collagen and elastin production, although the principal laboratory paper now carries an expression of concern from its journal. Because the gel spreads thinly through the tissue, it adds no volume. Profhilo Structura is a separate, thicker product designed for the outer cheek.
Juvelook vs Profhilo under the eyes
- Juvelook, Grade C In a Singapore-led prospective study of 15 women, three monthly sessions of about 0.4 ml per eye improved tear-trough appearance and lower-lid elasticity, hydration and radiance. The study had no control group, and both authors have received speaker fees from the manufacturer. A small Korean case series reported improvement maintained at 6 months.
- Profhilo, Grade D No study has tested Profhilo under the eyes. Its five standard injection points lie over the cheekbone, beside the nostril, in front of the ear, at the marionette line and at the angle of the jaw, and its Singapore registration covers “treatment of the face” without naming the eye area. In a report of three patients treated on the upper third of the face, lower-lid swelling developed and settled within a week. The swelling likely reflects the spread of a fluid, water-binding gel into the loose tissue of the lower lid.
- Juvelook vs Profhilo head to head, Grade D No study has compared the two products. The difference between Grade C and Grade D therefore reflects the existence of under-eye data for Juvelook, not a demonstrated superiority in result.
For a deeper tear-trough groove, hyaluronic acid filler has much stronger evidence than either booster. Filler options are compared on the Sunken eyes treatment in Singapore page.
Juvelook vs Profhilo for the face and skin quality
- Profhilo on the face In an open-label study of 64 women, wrinkle and volume-loss scores improved after two sessions and remained better at 16 weeks. A Singapore study of 30 Chinese women, with manufacturer co-authors, found improved hydration at 12 weeks. Two small randomised trials were less favourable. Around the mouth, the gain in skin thickness did not exceed that produced by a saline placebo, and on the forehead, adding Profhilo to Botox produced no additional benefit. The favourable results therefore come from uncontrolled studies, whereas both controlled trials found no benefit over the comparator.
- Juvelook on the face In a randomised split-face trial of 33 patients, Juvelook Volume performed as well as poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) for nasolabial folds at 24 weeks. In a study of 16 patients, skin biopsies taken after 2 to 3 sessions showed increased dermal collagen and elastic fibres, which provides tissue evidence of the collagen-stimulating mechanism.
Juvelook vs Profhilo price in Singapore (2026)
| Product | Per session | Usual course | Course total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Juvelook | S$388 half vial, S$688 full vial (up to S$1,200) | 3 sessions | S$1,200 to 3,600 |
| Profhilo | S$700 to 1,500 per 2 ml syringe | 2 sessions | S$1,400 to 3,000 |
Some Singapore clinics list Juvelook only as a “PDLLA skin booster” and Profhilo as a “5-point HA skin booster” or “HA 5-point lift”. A quote is comparable only when it names the product and the volume injected, because other PDLLA and HA boosters differ in composition and concentration.
Juvelook vs Profhilo side effects
- Juvelook Swelling lasts 2 to 3 days, and bruising occurs occasionally. The specific risk under the eyes is nodules, firm lumps that can appear weeks after treatment when particles sit too close to the thin lower-lid skin and provoke an excessive local collagen and inflammatory response. Published cases include tear-trough nodules that resolved with radiofrequency treatment and lower-lid granulomas that required surgery. A Singapore case report describes vision loss and strokes after PDLLA was injected into the nasolabial folds and under the eyes, a complication that occurs when product enters an artery and blocks the blood supply to the eye and brain.
- Profhilo Bumps form at the injection points and flatten within a day or two, with swelling and occasional bruising. Worldwide post-marketing data recorded adverse events in 0.034% of an estimated 1.09 million patients, mostly swelling, redness and discomfort. The analysis was co-authored by manufacturer employees, and post-marketing data depend on voluntary reporting, so the true rate may be higher.
Can you combine Juvelook and Profhilo?
Some clinics combine the two, using Profhilo across the cheeks and jaw for hydration and Juvelook under the eyes for thickness. This division matches the areas for which each product was designed, although no study has tested the combination (Grade D).
Which lasts longer, Juvelook or Profhilo?
Juvelook is designed to last longer, because its particles continue to stimulate collagen while they are absorbed over several months, and one under-eye series reported results maintained at 6 months. Profhilo’s hydration effect is reported to last up to about 6 months after the two-session course, as the body’s own enzymes gradually break down the HA. Clinic claims that Juvelook lasts up to 24 months are not supported by study results, since the longest published follow-up is 6 months. Clinics advise maintenance about every 6 months for both.
Juvelook vs Profhilo, which to choose by concern
- Thin skin or a mild hollow under the eyes Juvelook is the better-supported option, with a small risk of nodules. Rejuran I, a polynucleotide booster, is the lower-risk alternative and is compared in Juvelook vs Rejuran.
- Dull, dehydrated skin, mild laxity on cheeks and jaw Profhilo is designed for this indication, because its spreading gel hydrates a wide area from five injection points per side.
- A definite tear-trough groove Hyaluronic acid filler restores the missing volume directly, to a degree that neither booster achieves.
- Loose under-eye skin Radiofrequency is more suitable than a booster, because heat delivered into the dermis contracts collagen and tightens lax skin. The options are compared on Sagging skin under eyes treatment.
Profhilo is also compared with Rejuran on the Profhilo vs Rejuran page.
Frequently asked questions about Juvelook and Profhilo
Is Juvelook or Profhilo better under the eyes?
Juvelook is the better-supported option under the eyes, because it has small under-eye studies and adds slight volume, whereas Profhilo has no under-eye study and its standard injection points avoid the eye area. Juvelook does, however, carry a small risk of nodules under the thin lower-lid skin.
What is the difference between Juvelook and Profhilo?
Juvelook contains PDLLA particles that stimulate new collagen and add slight volume. Profhilo is a high dose of hyaluronic acid that spreads through the skin to hydrate it and adds no volume.
How many sessions of Juvelook or Profhilo are needed?
Juvelook is usually given as three sessions four weeks apart, and Profhilo as two sessions four weeks apart. Both courses are followed by maintenance sessions about every six months.
Can Profhilo be injected under the eyes?
Some clinics inject small amounts under the eyes, but no study has tested Profhilo in this area. Lower-lid swelling is the main concern, because it has been reported even after treatment of the upper face.
Which is cheaper, Juvelook or Profhilo?
In Singapore in 2026, a Juvelook session costs S$388 to 1,200 and a Profhilo session S$700 to 1,500. A full course costs about S$1,200 to 3,600 for Juvelook and S$1,400 to 3,000 for Profhilo, so neither is consistently cheaper once the number of sessions is taken into account.
