What Thermage Eyes is and how the FLX eye tip works
Thermage FLX is a monopolar RF skin-tightening system. Electrical current flows from the treatment tip to a return pad on the body, and the resistance of the skin converts that current into heat across a broad layer of the dermis while a cryogen spray cools and protects the surface. The heat contracts existing collagen immediately, and new collagen forms over the following 2 to 6 months.
- The eye tip The 0.25 cm² tip is shallow and designed for the thin skin of the eyelids. A typical session delivers about 450 pulses over the upper lids, the lower lids and the skin at the outer corner of the eye.
- Eye protection A plastic shield shaped like a large contact lens is placed over each eye before the lids are treated. In the safety study of the eye tip, no injury to the lids or eyes occurred at the tested settings with the shield in place.
- US clearance The eye tip has been cleared in the United States since 2007 for wrinkles around the eyes, including the upper and lower eyelids, and the current Thermage FLX system was cleared in 2017.
Singapore clinics also list the treatment as Thermage FLX Eyes, Eyes by Thermage or RF Thermalift FLX Eye, all of which use the same eye tip.
Thermage Eyes for hooded eyelids, crepey under-eyes and eye bags
| Concern | What Thermage Eyes does | Evidence | Better-supported option if it does not suit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mild hooding of the upper lid from loose skin | Tightens lid skin and lifts the brow slightly | B | Upper blepharoplasty once skin rests on the lashes |
| Crepey, lax lower-lid skin | Tightens and firms the skin | B | Fractional CO2 laser or Secret RF for texture |
| Fat-type eye bags | Tightens the skin over the bag without removing fat | D | AGNES + Secret RF or scarless eye bag removal |
| Drooping lid edge (ptosis) | No effect on the muscle that lifts the lid | None | Ptosis repair |
Thermage Eyes helps only where loose skin is the main cause. The self-checks on the sagging eyelids causes, sagging skin under eyes causes and eye bag causes pages separate loose skin from fat, fluid and ptosis.
Thermage Eyes results in clinical studies
- EvidenceEvidence for wrinkles and brow position around the eyes, Grade B. A multicentre study of 86 patients given a single treatment found at least a one-point wrinkle improvement, rated by blinded reviewers, in 83% of treated areas around the eyes at six months, and a brow rise of at least 0.5 mm in 62% of brows.
- EvidenceEvidence for eyelid skin, Grade B. A second multicentre study treated the lids of 72 patients directly with the 0.25 cm² tip. At six months, upper-lid tightening was observed in 88%, reduced hooding in 86% and lower-lid tightening in 71 to 74%. The improvement was up to 25% in most patients and greater in a smaller group, and no serious adverse effects occurred.
- EvidenceEvidence in Asian eyelids, Grade C. A 2025 Korean study gave 14 patients one session with the same tip on the upper lids and outer eye. At six months, 86% reported more than 50% improvement, the brow had risen by 1.45 mm at mid-pupil and the lid crease by 0.41 mm, and no adverse events had occurred. The small sample and the absence of a control group limit the study to Grade C.
- EvidenceEvidence for eye bags, Grade D. No study has measured a reduction in eye-bag fat after Thermage.
The effect is a modest tightening of lax skin, smaller than the change achieved by surgical removal of skin or fat.
Thermage Eyes before and after results and recovery timeline
- Day 1 to 2 Redness and mild swelling are usual, and a slight firmness appears immediately as existing collagen contracts.
- 2 months In the 2025 Korean study, 73% of patients reported more than 50% improvement and the brow had risen by 1.18 mm as new collagen formed.
- 6 months The measured result reaches its peak, with 86% of patients reporting more than 50% improvement and the brow raised by 1.45 mm.
- 1 to 2 years The effect fades as ageing continues. Published studies end at six months, so the repeat interval of 1 to 2 years advised by clinics rests on clinical practice rather than trial data.
Before-and-after photographs on clinic websites show selected cases, and differences in lighting, brow position and make-up alter the appearance of the lids. The standardised photographs in the studies above are a more reliable guide.
Thermage Eyes price in Singapore (2026)
| Treatment | 2026 Singapore price | What a session includes |
|---|---|---|
| Thermage Eyes (eye tip) | S$1,200 to 3,000 | About 450 pulses, upper and lower lids |
| Thermage FLX full face | S$3,200 to 5,500 | About 900 pulses |
Prices are per session, compiled from published Singapore clinic price lists, and some exclude GST. Each Thermage tip is single-use and priced by its pulse count, so two quotes can be compared only when both state the number of pulses.
Thermage Eyes procedure, pain and downtime
- Preparation Make-up is removed and numbing cream is usually applied, although patients in the 2006 eyelid trial were treated without it.
- Treatment Each pulse produces a short burst of deep heat followed by the cooling spray. Pain averaged about 7 out of 10 in a study of 46 patients treated with Thermage FLX on the face. With numbing cream and anaesthetic eye drops, all 14 patients in the 2025 Korean eyelid study completed treatment without pain.
- Downtime Redness and mild swelling last 1 to 2 days.
- Sessions One, repeated every 1 to 2 years.
Thermage Eyes side effects and risks
- Common Redness, swelling, tenderness and temporary numbness.
- Burns and scars In the 86-patient study, second-degree burns occurred in 0.36% of RF applications (21 of 5,858), and three patients had small scars at six months. That study used an older single-pass method. The multiple-pass, lower-energy settings used today were introduced to improve comfort and the consistency of results.
- Fat loss and nerve pain A series of 290 patients (757 face treatments) using an older 1 cm² tip reported second-degree burns in 2.7% of sessions, and rare cases of nerve pain and of dents caused by heat damage to the fat beneath the skin.
- Eye injury The eye shield is essential, and with it in place the eyelid trials reported no injury to the eye.
Thermage Eyes vs Ultherapy, HIFU, Emface Eyes and blepharoplasty
| Thermage Eyes | Ultherapy | HIFU | Emface Eyes | Upper blepharoplasty | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Treats the eyelid skin itself | Yes | No, brow and below the bony rim | Yes, with an eye cartridge | No, outside the orbital rim | Yes, removes skin |
| Evidence, eye area | B | B (brow), C (under-eye) | C | D | A |
| Downtime | 1 to 2 days | None to 1 day | None to 4 days | None | 1 to 2 weeks |
| 2026 Singapore price | S$1,200 to 3,000 | S$400 to 1,200 | S$300 to 800 | No published eye price | S$3,000 to 6,000 |
Among the non-surgical devices, only Thermage Eyes and HIFU treat the eyelid skin directly, and Thermage carries the stronger evidence (Grade B against Grade C). Upper blepharoplasty removes the excess skin and carries Grade A evidence, at a higher price and with 1 to 2 weeks of downtime. Thermage and Ultherapy are compared in detail in Thermage vs Ultherapy. Every eye bag option is compared on Eye bag removal in Singapore, and upper-lid options on Sagging eyelids treatment in Singapore.
Frequently asked questions about Thermage Eyes
How much does Thermage Eyes cost in Singapore?
A single Thermage Eyes session costs S$1,200 to 3,000 in Singapore in 2026 and usually covers about 450 pulses over the upper and lower lids. A full-face Thermage FLX session costs S$3,200 to 5,500.
Does Thermage Eyes work for eye bags?
Thermage Eyes tightens loose skin over an eye bag but does not remove the fat, and no study has shown a reduction in eye-bag fat (Grade D). Fat-type bags respond better to AGNES + Secret RF, which heats the fat pad through an insulated needle, or to scarless eye bag removal, which removes or repositions the fat through the inside of the lower lid.
How long does Thermage Eyes last?
Thermage Eyes results build over 2 to 6 months. Published studies follow patients only to six months, and clinics advise a repeat session every 1 to 2 years as the effect fades with continued ageing.
Is Thermage Eyes safe for the eyes?
With a plastic shield over each eye, the eyelid trials reported no eye injury. Second-degree burns occurred in 0.36% of applications in one older study and in 2.7% of sessions in another, and small scars are uncommon.
How many sessions of Thermage Eyes are needed?
Thermage Eyes is given as a single session, repeated every 1 to 2 years, and the studies that measured eyelid tightening all used a single treatment.
