What human collagen skin boosters CellREDM, Re2O and Essalia are made of
Donor skin from tissue banks is processed to remove every living cell, which leaves the collagen and elastin framework of the dermis, and this framework is micronised into an injectable powder. Removal of the cells eliminates most of the material that would otherwise provoke an immune reaction in the recipient. Clinic and manufacturer descriptions give the composition as mostly type 1 collagen, with small amounts of elastin and glycosaminoglycans, the water-binding sugars of the dermis.
- Re2O Made by L&C Bio as a human acellular dermal matrix, Re2O is also sold as Re2O Fine, Re20 or Elravie Re2O. One clinic lists its composition as 89% type 1 collagen, 3% elastin and 0.4% glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid, with donor tissue from US tissue banks.
- CellREDM Made by Hans Biomed as a human acellular dermal matrix, CellREDM is listed by one clinic at 160 mg per treatment, of which about 85% is collagen.
- Essalia A further Korean ECM booster, Essalia has no description or price published by any Singapore clinic.
- How it is meant to work The matrix is proposed to act as a scaffold into which fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen, migrate and lay down new dermis.
Who collagen skin boosters suit, from thin skin and crepey lids to dark circles
| Concern | What the booster is marketed to do | Evidence | Better-supported option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thin, crepey skin on the cheek | Thicker, firmer, smoother skin | C (one cheek trial) | Same evidence level as other boosters |
| Thin, bluish under-eye skin | Thicker skin so that veins are less visible | D (no under-eye study) | Rejuran I or Juvelook (Grade C) |
| Brown, pigmented circles | Not a pigment treatment | D | Pico laser and lightening creams (Grade B) |
| A tear trough hollow | Adds little volume | D | Tear trough filler (Grade A for the hollow) |
Dark circles fall into four types (pigmented, vascular, structural and mixed), which are set out on the dark eye circles causes page. Collagen boosters are marketed for the thin-skin, vascular type, in which veins show through a thin lower lid.
Collagen skin booster results in published studies
- EvidenceEvidence for facial skin quality, Grade C. In a 2026 randomised, double-blind, split-face trial, 20 adults with rough cheek skin received particulated human acellular dermal matrix on one side of the face and hyaluronic acid on the other. Over 20 weeks, the matrix side showed greater improvement in skin density, volume, elasticity, wrinkle depth, pore area and hydration, and no serious adverse events occurred. The abstract does not name the brand tested, so the result cannot be attributed to Re2O, CellREDM or Essalia specifically.
- Laboratory and animal evidence In mice, injectable hADM was infiltrated by fibroblasts and new blood vessels, formed a thinner surrounding capsule than sheet-type hADM, and maintained its thickness to 24 weeks. A thinner capsule suggests closer integration of the material into the surrounding tissue and a weaker foreign-body reaction.
- EvidenceEvidence under the eyes and for dark circles, Grade D. No study has tested these boosters in the lower lid or measured their effect on dark circles, so the under-eye claims rest on extrapolation from cheek skin.
Collagen skin booster before and after timeline
- Day 1 to several days Swelling and small bumps form at the injection points.
- Weeks 4 to 8 Clinics schedule the second and third sessions about a month apart.
- Week 20 Follow-up in the only clinical trial, conducted on the cheek, ended at this point.
- Beyond 20 weeks No human follow-up has been published beyond this point, so clinic claims of long-lasting results are not supported by any study.
Before-and-after photographs on clinic websites show selected cases, and differences in lighting and make-up alter the apparent depth and colour of the under-eye area.
Collagen skin booster price in Singapore (2026)
| Product | 2026 Singapore price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Re2O (Re20, Elravie Re2O) | S$950 to 1,300 a session | S$988 for the first session and S$1,100 per session in a 4-session package at one clinic |
| CellREDM | S$900 a syringe | Published by one clinic only |
| Essalia | No published price | Not found on any Singapore clinic page |
| Course of 3 sessions | About S$2,700 to 3,900 | At the per-session prices above |
Prices are compiled from published Singapore clinic pages, and some exclude goods and services tax (GST). No clinic publishes a separate under-eye price, so a quote should specify the product, the amount injected and the area treated.
Collagen skin booster procedure, pain and downtime
- Preparation A numbing cream is applied, and the powder is reconstituted into an injectable suspension before use.
- Treatment Small amounts are injected into the dermis with a fine needle or cannula. No study has reported a pain score for injection under the eyes.
- Downtime Swelling and bumps last several days.
- Sessions Usually three sessions, about a month apart.
Collagen skin booster side effects, risks and regulation
- Common Swelling, bruising and bumps at the injection points.
- Nodules and long-term behaviour No under-eye safety data exist, and the long-term behaviour of donor tissue in the thin lower lid is unknown. Like other particulate injectables, the matrix can form palpable lumps if it is placed too superficially in thin lid skin, and unlike hyaluronic acid filler, it cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
- Korean regulation Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) classes these powdered acellular dermis products as human tissue rather than medical devices. A 2026 draft amendment to the human tissue safety rules would increase safety reporting from once to twice a year, restrict cosmetic advertising and require clinics to inform patients that the product is human-derived. On 7 October 2026, the Korean health minister stated that the regulator is studying whether to regulate the products as medical devices.
- Singapore registration No HSA registration for Re2O, CellREDM or Essalia was found in public sources, and no Singapore clinic page states one. Registration status should be confirmed with the clinic before treatment.
Collagen skin booster vs Rejuran, Juvelook and tear trough filler
| Collagen skin booster | Rejuran I | Juvelook | Tear trough filler | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Made from | Human donor skin (acellular matrix) | Salmon DNA (polynucleotides) | Poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) with hyaluronic acid | Hyaluronic acid |
| Evidence under the eyes | D | C | C | A (hollow), B (dark circles) |
| Singapore HSA registration found | No | Yes | Yes | Yes, for registered products |
| 2026 Singapore price | S$900 to 1,300 a session | From S$500 a session | S$388 to 688 a vial | S$600 to 1,200 a syringe (up to S$1,500) |
Rejuran I and Juvelook combine Grade C under-eye evidence and HSA registration at similar or lower prices, and they are reviewed in Rejuran under eye Singapore and Juvelook under eye Singapore. Every under-eye option is compared on the Dark eye circles treatment in Singapore page.
Frequently asked questions about collagen skin boosters under the eyes
How much does a collagen skin booster cost in Singapore?
In Singapore in 2026, Re2O costs S$950 to 1,300 a session and CellREDM S$900 a syringe. A course of three sessions costs about S$2,700 to 3,900, and Essalia has no published price.
What are CellREDM and Re2O made of?
Both are human acellular dermal matrix, which is donor skin from tissue banks with the living cells removed, micronised into a powder and reconstituted for injection. The remaining material is mostly type 1 collagen. Re2O is made by L&C Bio and CellREDM by Hans Biomed.
Do collagen skin boosters work for dark circles?
Their effect on dark circles is unknown, because no study has tested them under the eyes or measured dark circles (Grade D). One 20-patient trial on the cheek found greater improvement in skin quality than with hyaluronic acid at 20 weeks.
Are CellREDM and Re2O approved in Singapore?
No HSA registration for Re2O, CellREDM or Essalia was found in public sources, and no Singapore clinic page states one. In Korea, the products are classed as human tissue, and the rules governing them are being tightened in 2026.
Is a collagen skin booster better than Rejuran under the eyes?
No study has compared them directly. Rejuran I is supported by small under-eye studies (Grade C) and is on the HSA register, whereas collagen boosters have no under-eye study and no HSA registration was found. On current evidence, Rejuran I is the better-supported option under the eyes.
