What Juvelook is and how PDLLA works under the eyes
Juvelook is supplied as a powder that is reconstituted with saline before injection. Each vial contains 42.5 mg of PDLLA microspheres and 7.5 mg of non-cross-linked HA. The HA binds water and produces an immediate hydrating effect, but because it is not cross-linked, it is broken down within days and contributes hydration rather than lasting volume. The PDLLA particles provoke a controlled inflammatory response in which fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen, deposit new collagen around the particles as they are gradually absorbed, thickening the dermis and adding a small amount of volume.
- Injection Small amounts are placed beneath the lower lid with a blunt cannula or a fine needle. About 0.4 ml per eye was used at each session in the Singapore-led study.
- Juvelook Volume is a different product Juvelook Volume (Lenisna) contains 170 mg of PDLLA and 30 mg of HA, four times the PDLLA and HA content of Juvelook, and is designed to restore deeper volume elsewhere on the face. A quote should therefore specify which of the two products is used.
- Singapore registration Vaim Juvelook is listed on the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) Medical Device Register (DE0507634) for filling skin depressions and restoring soft-tissue volume. Use under the eyes rests on the injector’s clinical judgement.
- Other names Some clinics list Juvelook only as a PDLLA skin booster without naming the brand.
Juvelook suitability for thin skin, mild hollows and bluish dark circles
| Concern | What Juvelook does | Evidence | Better-supported option if it does not suit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thin, crepey lower-lid skin | Thickens and hydrates the skin | C | Rejuran I, which carries the lowest risk of lumps |
| A mild hollow under the eye | Adds slight volume | C | Tear trough filler for a definite groove (Grade A) |
| Blue-purple circles from thin skin | Thickens the skin so that underlying veins are less visible | C | Allergy control where the circles accompany rhinitis |
| Brown, pigmented circles | Does not treat pigment | D | Pico laser and lightening creams (Grade B) |
| Fat-type eye bags | Does not reduce the fat | D | Eye bag removal |
The stretch and light tests on the dark eye circles causes page distinguish thin skin and shadow from pigment. Brown colour that is unchanged on stretching indicates pigment, whereas blue-purple colour that deepens on stretching indicates thin skin over visible vessels.
Juvelook results in under-eye studies
- EvidenceEvidence for the tear trough and lower-lid skin, Grade C. In a Singapore-led prospective study, 15 women received three Juvelook sessions of about 0.4 ml per eye. Investigator and patient ratings of the tear trough improved after each session. Lower-lid elasticity, hydration, skin quality and radiance also improved, and no adverse events were reported. Without a control group, the size of the effect attributable to Juvelook cannot be established, and both authors have received speaker fees from the manufacturer.
- Longer follow-up, Grade C A Korean case series of women with tear trough deformity reported that the improvement was maintained at 6 months. A 2025 case report documented the collagen response on ultrasound imaging.
- Randomised evidence, other areas The only randomised trial of a Juvelook product compared Juvelook Volume with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the active ingredient of Sculptra, in the nasolabial folds of 33 people and found it non-inferior, meaning no worse within a predefined margin, at 24 weeks. No randomised trial has tested Juvelook under the eyes.
- Juvelook vs Rejuran, Grade D No human study has compared the two products directly.
Juvelook before and after timeline under the eyes
- Day 1 to 3 The HA produces slight fullness, with swelling for 2 to 3 days and occasional bruising.
- Weeks 4 and 8 The second and third sessions take place, and in the Singapore-led study, ratings improved further after each one.
- 2 to 3 months New collagen forms around the PDLLA particles as they are absorbed, and the skin thickens over this period.
- 6 months Six months is the longest follow-up reported in the under-eye studies. Clinics advise a maintenance session about every 6 months, and claims that Juvelook lasts up to 24 months are not supported by any published study.
Before-and-after photographs on clinic websites show selected cases, and differences in lighting and make-up alter the apparent depth and colour of the under-eye area.
Juvelook price in Singapore (2026)
| Option | 2026 Singapore price | What the price covers |
|---|---|---|
| Half vial | S$388 | About 3 ml once reconstituted |
| Full vial | S$688 | Usually priced per session |
| Per session, other clinics | S$950 to 1,200 | Priced per 2 ml syringe or per session as a PDLLA skin booster |
| Course of 3 sessions | S$1,200 to 2,100 at vial prices, up to S$3,600 | Three sessions about 4 weeks apart |
Prices are compiled from published Singapore clinic price lists, and some exclude goods and services tax (GST). Because some clinics quote Juvelook per vial and others per syringe or per session, prices are comparable only when a quote states the product, the volume injected and the number of sessions.
Juvelook procedure, pain and downtime
- Preparation Make-up is removed, a numbing cream is applied, and the powder is reconstituted with saline.
- Treatment The product is placed beneath the lower lid with a cannula or fine needle. No study has reported a pain score for Juvelook under the eyes.
- Downtime Swelling lasts 2 to 3 days, and bruising occurs occasionally.
- Sessions Three sessions about 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance about every 6 months.
Juvelook side effects and nodule risk
- Common Swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection sites.
- Nodules Firm lumps can appear weeks after injection, usually where the particles have been placed too superficially in the thin lower-lid skin, because the lid has too little overlying tissue to conceal the collagen that forms around them. In one published case, tear-trough nodules that appeared three weeks after Juvelook resolved within 24 hours of monopolar radiofrequency treatment. In another, lower-eyelid granulomas that developed after three PDLLA sessions with a sharp needle required two operations.
- Not dissolvable Hyaluronidase, the enzyme used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler, breaks down the HA component of Juvelook but not the PDLLA particles, so a lump cannot be reversed by injection in the way a filler lump can.
- Vessel blockage and vision loss A Singapore case report describes vision loss and multiple strokes after PDLLA was injected into the nasolabial folds and under the eyes, a complication that arises when product enters an artery and travels to the vessels that supply the eye and brain. A 2026 review of biostimulator injectables found one reported case of visual loss after PDLLA-HA. Although the event is rare, under-eye injection should be performed by a doctor trained to recognise and treat it.
Juvelook vs Rejuran, tear trough filler and Sculptra
| Juvelook | Rejuran I | Tear trough filler | Sculptra | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main effect | Thicker skin plus slight volume | Thicker skin, no volume | Fills the hollow immediately | Collagen volume over months |
| Under-eye evidence | C | C | A (hollow), B (dark circles) | Label advises against under-eye use |
| Can be dissolved | No (PDLLA) | No volume to dissolve | Yes, with hyaluronidase | No |
| Downtime | 2 to 3 days | 1 to 2 days | 1 to 3 days, bruising up to a week | 2 to 5 days |
| 2026 Singapore price | S$388 to 688 a vial | From S$500 a session | S$600 to 1,200 a syringe (up to S$1,500) | About S$1,000 to 1,300 a vial |
Juvelook adds the slight volume that Rejuran I lacks, but unlike tear trough filler, it cannot be dissolved if a lump forms. Detailed head-to-head reviews are published as Juvelook vs Rejuran, Juvelook vs Profhilo and Juvelook vs Sculptra, and every under-eye option is compared by type of dark circle on the Dark eye circles treatment in Singapore page.
Frequently asked questions about Juvelook under the eyes
How much does Juvelook cost in Singapore?
In Singapore in 2026, Juvelook costs S$388 for a half vial and S$688 for a full vial, whereas clinics that price it per session charge S$950 to 1,200. A course of three sessions costs S$1,200 to 2,100 at vial prices and up to S$3,600 at per-session prices.
Does Juvelook work for dark circles?
Juvelook can thicken thin skin over bluish circles, making the underlying veins less visible, and soften a mild hollow, with Grade C evidence from small studies. It has no effect on brown, pigmented circles, for which pico laser and lightening creams have Grade B evidence.
Does Juvelook cause lumps under the eyes?
Juvelook can cause nodules, usually when the product is placed too superficially in the thin lower-lid skin. Most published cases resolved with treatment such as radiofrequency, although some required surgery. Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, the PDLLA cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
How long does Juvelook last under the eyes?
Published under-eye studies follow patients for up to 6 months, and clinics advise a maintenance session about every 6 months. Claims that results last up to 24 months are not supported by any published study.
Is Juvelook or tear trough filler better for under-eye hollows?
Tear trough filler is the better choice for a definite groove, because it has Grade A evidence, fills the hollow immediately and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Juvelook suits a mild hollow with thin overlying skin, where it thickens the skin as well as adding slight volume.
